Fantasy Football Captain Picks - Gameweek 3

Kane, Lukaku and Aguero

After an exhilarating Gameweek 2 of the new Premier League season with some rather surprising results and scorelines, who will you entrust with the captains armband ahead of this weekend?
To help you with that decision, we have compiled a list with three players who we feel could accrue big point tallies this gameweek.

Harry Kane (BUR)

Tottenham match up against Burnley this weekend and perhaps this could be the week where Harry finally ends his August drought. Topping the leaderboard with the most shots inside the box (11) out of every player, it seems inevitable that his misfortune will change. Averaging a shot every 12.9 minutes coupled with the fact that he has already struck the woodwork twice so far this campaign, it feels unreasonable to look past him.

Romelu Lukaku (LEI)

Currently the league's top scorer with 3 goals, Lukaku is without doubt, the safest captain choice ahead of this gameweek. Converting all 3 of his shots on target into goals, the burly Belgian has started the season with a bang. Granted the opposition he has faced (West Ham and Swansea) are not the most challenging of sides, it mustn't take away from the fact that he can find the back of the net. Owned by over 57% of FPL managers, it would take a brave manager to hand the captaincy elsewhere.

Sergio Aguero (BOU)

I was torn on whether or not to include a City attacker in this article but in the end felt that you have to give them some consideration. Aguero has been the focal point of the City attack this season receiving the ball in the final third 42 times, with 16 touches in the opposition penalty area. Despite having 1 goal to his name, Aguero has not been usual self. Squandering a glorious opportunity versus Everton and looking slightly lethargic in his opening matches, there is a concern over captaining him. However, Bournemouth is a side that has already conceded 35 shots on their goal, with 24 of them coming from inside the box. If City can capitalise on the Cherries weaknesses at the back, then surely Aguero can reap some FPL rewards.
